Orchard

Today we planted some fruit trees. You can't see them very good, but they have a pink ribbon tied to them. There's apple, plum, and peach. We also transplanted a grapevine that came from a grapevine Mike's grandfather once had. We rooted it about 2 years ago. I hope it makes it.

Pictures of our new land

Here are a few "before" pictures of our land where one day our house will be. Hopefully next time this year I'll have some "after" pictures to share. The building in the picture is an old hog house. Looks like we need a tractor!!!

Land!

Hooray!! We bought our land/lot yesterday! So exciting! Now if we can just sell our house so we can start building the new one! It would be so nice to have a new home for Christmas but we have to sell ours before we can go any further. If you're reading this, please pray for the right family to see ours soon! I'll get a picture of the area tomorrow and try to get it posted on here. Just a little piece of farm land but we love it!! There are 2 old hog houses that haven't been used in years on the land. We are going to refurbish them for storage. I'll take before and after pictures, but it will be a while before we finish and I have 'after' pictures. We are going to move our young fruit trees this weekend. We need a TRACTOR!! LOL! Mike is going to plant an orchard on a corner of the area, and have a garden in another corner. Stay tuned for Mike's Fruit-Vegetable Stand!! Just kidding...maybe?

Our kids love their new school. By the grace of God we were able to get them transferred by purchasing this property. The school transfer is a long story! So, long story short...the community decided we shouldn't transfer, we as parents and our children didn't matter to the decision making people, no one would listen to us!! As others were approved, some parents from the school we were leaving got involved. Got involved to the extent, our principal approved transfer was revoked. It was unbelievable! It was my first and I hope my last taste of bad politics! There are no words to describe how happy they are now. Funny story...Madison is taking an animal science class (which by the way, isn't offered at the school we left). They have some hogs they are taking care of. She named hers Bacon. I wish we could buy her from the school so she won't end up going to market. But..we just can't have a huge pig like that, she weights 212 pounds. We had breakfast for supper this week, she wouldn't eat any of the bacon or sausage. Can't say that I blame her!

Well...until next time....Stay happy!

4 Picketts come for a visit

My brother Michael drove down to surprise mom with a visit last week. Unfortunately I couldn't see them since we had the flu bug visiting our house. Hopefully we'll get to see them soon!! These pictures are my mom and my youngest nephew.

A few more pictures...

Riverpark North

Mom, Mike, and I drove over to Riverpark North for an outing this afternoon. Oh, I shouldn't forget Puddin', Ozzie, and Barney were also with us!
